Newark, New Jersey is the setting for another chapter in nocuous behavior that leather and rubber can fuel. At a local high school, a student was viciously attacked and beaten over a pair of sneakers.
Police are investigating the incident, which occurred just outside the West Side High School gymnasium , which is in close proximity to the school’s main entrance. The victim, a high school senior, was punched, kicked, and thrown on the grown, in an attempt to take the sneakers off his feet.
Police and school officials have not released a great deal information surrounding the attack but despite their buttoned-up approach,( something that is a point of consternation family of the victims) a video did surfaced on social media that depicted several hooded males assaulting the victim even as he was already on the ground trying to protect himself from the onslaught of blows being rained down upon him. Several uniformed men also apprear on the video, who were likely school security personnel attempt to up the attack.
Thankfully there have been no severe injuries reported in the attack. An investigation is currently ongoing and no arrests have been reported.
